the Owl and the Pussycat

I had a nice trip up to Klamath on Sunday - just as I got to the yard in Dunsmuir a northbound was ready to leave. Found a wooden-floored box and 5 minutes later we took off - my kinda connections! A quick though windy ride got me into K Falls at 1:30 pm. Bailed off just past BN cuz a southbound was picking up at the very south end of the yard and found what has to be the best ride imaginable (photo below) - a coil steel gon with high sides that had the front half covered with one of those fiberglass tops! Sort of like the wooden shoe in "the Owl and the Pussycat".

A couple of crossbeams provided a knee-high sleeping platform near the front with another one used as a bench seat. At 2:30 pm I was on my way back, watching the snow falling at Grass Lake from the comfort of my "motel room" (photo below). Why can't you find rides like this on long trips instead of little 4 hour jaunts?
