Hopping Freights (part 4)

This photo was taken in January 1979 at Dunsmuir. I was waiting for a southbound under the bridge just north of the depot when a piggyback left going up the hill. After it passed I walked out to the tracks to stretch my legs when I saw this swirl of snowflakes that was following the train like a miniature tornado. In the time it took me to take off my gloves and get my camera the "tornado" had dissipated somewhat but it still looked cool... I guess you had to be there. Putting off rolling out my gear for as long as I could paid off this time, and a train rolled to a stop just as it was getting too dark (and cold) to wait by the tracks any longer.
