Bridges I Have Known
Riding freight trains affords one with brief but scenic moments going over bridges and often lengthy (and boring) periods spent under them, waiting for trains. Here are some of my favorites:

Photo Bill keeps a close(d) eye on our laundry,
south end of Roper Yard,
Salt Lake City, UT

Four mid-train helpers behind us,
the Oregon Cascades ahead of us,
Hwy. 58 below us

Above the Mad River,
waiting for the NWP,
Northern California

Looking toward Oregon from the Washington side,
Columbia River Draw,
Vancouver, WA

American River at flood stage,
approaching Elvas Tower,
Sacramento, CA

On the way to Oakland,
crossing the Sacramento River,
near Martinez, CA

Oakland-bound train approaches the I St. bridge,
Sacramento River,
Sacramento, CA

Hanging a "right" toward Portola,
Keddie Wye,
Feather River Canyon, CA

Doing the "waiting-for-a-train" thing,
North End of Roper Yard,
Salt Lake City, UT

Coast Line junker at Adeline Ave.,
West Oakland SP Yard,
Oakland, CA
